The Difficulty of practicing non-violence

today we talked about sit-ins and non-violence. the black students who were sitting in the all white restaurants were taught non-violence no matter what. It would be very hard for me not to say or do anything back with all of the things they did and said to them.i wouldnt be able to sit and just take the disrespect of someone who is equaly human as me and make me fell isolated from the earth i just wouldnt be able to sit still and take it.

  1. I'm so thankful for your honestly; but this was the very essence of your experience son. The fact that despite anyone's ignorance; that you're still able to maintain your character. They did NOT allow the thoughts, opinions and attitudes of others define them or how they would react. Instead they responded and we're able to learn of their great achievement!! I'm so thankful that your able to experience this!!

  2. Quan,

I am so very glad that you and your friends have been able to have this exprience. As someone who live through the civil rights period, I can relate to your feelings. However, the discipline that was displayed by these demonstrators is the same sort of discipline it's going to take for you to achieve your goals in life.
You have a great history, as well as a great responsibility.
